Professional headshot photography in London
Professional headshots in London with a natural, modern look
…even if you don’t know how to “look professional” on camera!
A relaxed photography session for people who need better professional headshots in London, but don’t want a staged, awkward studio look.
- No forced corporate grin
- No awkward studio posing
- No “look thoughtfully into the middle distance” nonsense
Just useful direction, outdoor light and professional portraits that make you look clear, current and easy to recognise.
Whether you need LinkedIn headshots, a new CV photo, a company bio image or business headshots for your website, the aim is the same: photos that feel polished enough for work, but natural enough to feel human.
Before anyone reads the words…
Your photo has already made a small argument about who you are.
The first impression is already happening
Your headshot is already saying something about you
The first impression people get from you is usually a photo.
Before someone reads your CV, visits your website or replies to your message, they’ve already formed a first impression.
- Do you look current?
- Do you look credible?
- Do you look approachable?
- Do you look like someone they could hire, recommend, trust or remember?
A great LinkedIn headshot doesn’t need to make you look corporate or like a different person.
It needs to make you look clear, credible and easy to place in a professional context.
Professional can mean polished, approachable, creative or quietly confident—not one identical corporate look.
The job of the photograph
What a good professional headshot should do
A good headshot doesn’t need to make you look like an actor after a 3-hour makeup session.
It should make you look:
Look creditable
…so people feel they can take you seriously
Feel approachable
…so getting in touch, hiring you or starting a conversation feels straightforward.
Look current
…so the image belongs to your present role, business and ambitions—not another job, decade or version of yourself.
Stay recognisable
…so the person in the photograph still feels like the person someone will actually meet.
That’s the balance we’re aiming for: sensible enough for any working context, but natural enough to communicate some personality and warmth.
A professional backdrop without the studio
Professional headshots in London don’t have to look like studio portraits
A fantastic advantage of taking professional headshots in London is that we aren’t stuck with a plain studio wall.
Clean architecture, quieter streets, riverside areas, office districts and softer green spaces can all work, depending on the impression you want to make.
Great London areas for business headshots include:
- The City of London
- The South Bank
- London Bridge / Tower Bridge
- Westminster / Vauxhall
- Canary Wharf
- Or, your office area (if suitable)
You don’t need to decide this alone; I’m happy to suggest a location that fits!
A backdrop can subtly change the impression
Clean architecture
Modern, structured and useful for corporate, consulting and leadership profiles
Quieter streets
Professional without feeling too formal or heavily branded
Softer greenery
Warmer and more approachable, while still suitable for work
Your office area
Convenient and contextually relevant, provided the light and backgrounds work
Natural direction
Relaxed shoots
Retouched selects
Professional doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable
Formal, but not painfully corporate
The majority of headshots on LinkedIn just feel…forced.
The background is dull. The lighting is harsh. The smile is frozen. The person looks like they’re just waiting for the whole thing to be done.
For entrepreneurs, business leaders and employees alike…this isn’t the ideal way to make a first impression.
We aren’t taking a passport photo. If you need one of them, you can get one at any photo booth for a few quid. We’re going to photograph you in a way that says…
“This is a person worth speaking to.”
We’ll use London’s streets, architecture and quieter corners to create photos that look warm, modern and professional without feeling artificial.

A useful result, not merely a technically good photograph
Get a headshot you’ll actually use
A great professional photo shouldn’t sit in a folder because it feels too stiff, too fake, or too “unlike you”.
It should be easy to upload to LinkedIn, add to your CV or send for a speaker profile without second-guessing it.
That’s what the session is built around: a focused set of business portraits that look professional, feel current, and still feel recognisably like you.
No more stiff, generic corporate headshots. Just professional photos you’ll feel great about using.
Calm direction
…so you aren’t left wondering what to do.
I’ll guide posture, hands, expression, angle and background without asking you to pose as some theatrical version of yourself.
Natural light and London backdrops
…so the pic feels current.
We’ll use architecture, quiet streets, greenery or a simple urban background depending on the effect you want.
A focused set of images
…so you have enough variety for LinkedIn, CVs, company bios and social profiles without sorting through hundreds of near-identical photographs.
Light retouching
…so the final photograph looks polished but still recognisable.
The aim is to tidy distractions, not turn you into a waxwork version of yourself.
More than one version of “professional”
One session can give you photographs for several different contexts
A close headshot for LinkedIn. A slightly wider portrait for your company website. Something warmer for a speaker profile. A more relaxed frame for social media.
The goal isn’t to produce four different personalities. It’s to give the same person enough range to show up naturally in different professional settings.

Your photographer
Hi! I’m Tommy.
I’m a London-based portrait photographer creating contemporary portraits for people who need to look credible, approachable and current online.
I’ve spent years photographing people around London—at events, while travelling, and in everyday moments. The photos which people respond to best are rarely the rigid or posed ones. They’re the ones where the person looks relaxed, recognisable and properly themselves.
The best headshots give the impression: “I enjoy being here!” and not, “I’m only doing this because I have to.”
The end result will be…
A modern business headshot that makes you look like someone worth speaking to.
Not a corporate stock photo.

Frequently Asked Questions
These sessions are outdoor or location-based shoots using natural light and location-based backgrounds in London.
If you specifically need a traditional studio headshot, this isn’t the right offer.
Wear something that fits the impression you want to create.
For business leaders, a smart shirt that fits well is a great choice—tie optional. For less formal industries, a smart-casual look may work better than being suited and booted. Avoid busy patterns, tiny checks and anything that distracts from your face. Plain colours usually work well.
For Standard or Premium shoots, it can be worth bringing a second jacket, shirt, top or layer for variety.
Yes, I do team headshots.
Send me the number of people, the location and what the images are for, and I’ll suggest the simplest way to structure the shoot. I don’t currently list separate team packages on the website, but I can quote based on the number of people, time needed and final image requirements.
Usually, yes, so long as the location is easy for us both to get to, and as long as the area has suitable light and backgrounds.
If the location is not ideal, I’ll suggest somewhere nearby or similar.
I’ll guide the session, but I won’t over-direct you.
The idea is to make the photo work without making you feel like you’re performing. Small adjustments usually make the biggest difference.
I’ll get the images to you within 1-2 weeks from the day of the shoot.
If you need the images faster, feel free to get in touch. Rush delivery may be available for an additional fee. Just remember to mention your deadline when you enquire.
Yes! Because we’re going for “sensible but with a healthy splash of personality”, these photos will work on social media sites like Instagram and Facebook, too.
We can make sure we get a few more “personality” shots as well as more formal pics. But, if you specifically need photos for social media that isn’t just LinkedIn, we can shape the shoot around that instead. Just let me know!
